MEDICAL EVALUATIONS

Closing and Rating Evaluation
This examination is performed by selected clinicians to determine whether or not the effects of an industrial injury can be considered medically stationary/fixed and stable, and to determine the rating of any permanent impairment associated with the injury accorind to approprate state statues.

Electrodiagnositics (EMG/NCV)
This diagnostic evaluation is performed and interpreted by a board certified physiatrist or neurologist.

Independent Medical Evaluation (IME)
Multiple examiners evaluate the injured worker's current status and make recommendations regarding future evalutaion and managemetn. The type and number of examiners is based upon referral issues to be addressed.

Physician Evaluation
Depending on referral issues to be addressed, the selected board certified physician specialist performs an evaluation and makes recommendations for further diagnostic studies and/or treatment, if indicated. Available medical specialities include: Physiatry, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology and Psychiatry.


PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

Psychological Pain Evaluation
Our experienced clinical and medical psychologists are available to evaluate injury-related or other unrelated issues which may be interfering with recovery and return to work. We also make treatment and/or management recommendations as appropriate. An MMPI-2 is utilized as part of the evaluation.

Standard Psychological Evaluation
In addition to specializing in pain and somatization disorders, our psychologists are trained to asses and diagnose the full spectrum of mood, anxiety, and other psychological disorders. Along with a DSM-IV diagnosis, recommendations regarding treatment are offered.

Neuropsychological Evaluation
Neuropsychological evaluation, including testing, is recommended when a patient has sustained an injury that may have resulted in diminished cognitive functioning (e.g. head injury, toxic exposure) or when non-injury related factors such as psychiatric illness or disease process may be interfering with cognitive and/or behavioral functioning.


ALLIED HEALTH EVALUATIONS

Biofeedback Evaluation
An assessment performed by a certified biofeedback therapist including patient interview and monitoring of physiological responses. This type of evaluation is appropriate for patients with stress-related disorders, headaches, other chronic pain syndrome, and anger management difficulties.

Occupational Therapy Evaluation
This evaluation includes a records review, patient interview, and baseline physical capacity testing. When necessary, home visits are made to evaluate activities of daily living.

On-The-Job Evaluation
This evaluation consists of a job trial with the employer or with another appropriate employer to assess work-related skills, apitudes, behaviors, capacities, and endurance. A job coach accompanies the worker to the job site and serves as a liaison between an injured worked, his/her employer, attending physician, vocational counselor or other health-care providers and the payor.

Physical Therapy Evaluation
This evaluation includes a records review, patient interview, and an assessment of range of motion, strength, posture, gait coordination, aerobic capacity and, if appropirate, vestibular functioning.

Vocational Evaluation
This service includes a records review and comprehensive vocational interview to document education, licenses, work history, interests and work goals, and to identify barriers to employment, transferable skills and vocational recommendations. It also includes vocational testing, including interest, aptitude and ability testing.
